Along with HIV/AIDS, malaria is a leading killer in Africa; in many countries the malaria death toll exceeds that of AIDS. Unlike AIDS, treatment for malaria is relatively cheap The NIH is currently funding approximately 55 projects related to malaria in the countries in this database. More than 20 of these NIH grants support research in Kenya, and Mali and Malawi are important secondary centers of NIH supported malaria research in Africa. USAID also funds projects to fight malaria in 8 African countries. Find out more about malaria research and projects in Africa supported by these US programs, or by international and NGO funds: |
